School Newsletter Term 4 Issue 5 - 6th December, 2024
Message from the Principal
School Audit
Last Tuesday we had our whole school audit. Independent Schools are
audited every five years. This has been twelve months in planning as our
school audit covers everything from our board governance to our academic
programs. As with every audit there are some things we need to change or alter in which to improve, which will become part of our strategic plan for 2025. We look forward in 2025 as the school moves forwards under the direction of Mrs Jessica Chesterfield.
Staffing
Sarah Dionysius has elected to leave the school at the end of this term. Yarranlea Primary would like to thank Sarah for her time and contributions she has made to our school. She is being replaced by Mr. Andrew Platten. Since leaving us Andrew has completed various contracts throughout the metropolitan region in which to gain experience in different grades within the primary school arena.
Year 6 Dinner
Last Thursday night was our year 6 dinner which was organised by Ms Dionysius. This was held at school It was a wonderful night especially as we shared the “baby photos” from our Year 6 cohort as submitted by the parents. Our thanks to everyone for their support and making this a very successful night.
Its Storm Season and traffic is….?
Under our storm policy we will indicate via text to parents that a severe storm is approaching. There is need to panic. We would request you phone or leave a message as to how far away you may be if you are collecting your child before the storm or if staying until the end of the school day. Your child will not be released until we see you for collection.
Week 11 Activities
We are now arriving at the pointy end of the term. Report cards are being prepared and it is anticipated they will be distributed by email on Tuesday of next week. As a staff we would like to end the term with some different activities for next week so here are our thoughts. PLEASE NOTE there is a fire drill for bushfire practice this week. <Always be prepared is the scout motto>

Greetings Kookaburra Families!
As we approach the end of the year, I find myself reflecting on what has been an incredibly special journey with our Year 3 students. Over the past two years, we have formed such a close and meaningful bond, and saying goodbye to this chapter is bittersweet. While I will truly miss having them in my classroom each day, it brings me so much joy to know that I will still get to see them grow and flourish as they continue their primary school journey—just next door! Thank you for your unwavering support, and for sharing your amazing children with me.
To my Year 2's; it has been so lovely getting to know each of you this year and watching your unique personalities shine. I commend you for always trying your best and for bringing so much eagerness and excitement to our learning—it truly makes my job so heartwarming and rewarding! I’m thrilled that we get to continue our journey together next year. I can’t wait to help you develop your skills even further and to create even more special memories together.
And to any Year 1 Puggle families who might be reading this, I am very excited to welcome in your children to my classroom next year! I look forward to getting to know their unique personalities, strengths, and skills, and supporting them as they grow and learn. Together, I am confident we will create a positive and engaging learning environment where each child can thrive.
I hope you all have a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
~ Bek
USB'S:
As has become tradition, if you would like an electronic copy of your child’s work this year (minus curriculum book work), can you please start sending in USB drives in a zip lock bag with your child’s name clearly written on.
These scans include all assessment and work sheets completed, as well as finished writing books.
This started a few years ago as some parents were requesting work samples for High School interviews, however I also understand that keeping a years’ worth of books, sheets and assessments year on year is a LOT!
This also further ensures that both parents are able to obtain and keep copies of their child's schoolwork.
BAGS:
If students could please bring in an extra bag next week (Week 11) to take home their belongings this would be much appreciated! Please note, they have a fair few books, so no plastic bags please! A canvas, tote or heavy-duty shopping bag would be perfect. Thank you!
Please see below some HAPPY snaps from the past fortnight…
Dingoes NewsDesk
Hi everyone,
We have made it to the end of 2024! It's a bittersweet feeling as we know there will be changes for the New Year, as not only our wonderful Grade 6 students move on but as I finish up my time here.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my absolute gratitude and thanks to everyone in the Yarranlea community who have made me feel at home for the past two years. I would like to thank all the beautiful students, particularly my Dingoes who have made me so proud with all they have achieved so far, and I know they will go on to achieve great things. This school is truly special, and I have made memories here that will last a lifetime.
I wish everyone a happy and safe holiday break and I hope to see everyone in the New Year!
Year 6 Dinner
I would like to thank the wonderful parents and staff for attending our Year 6 Dinner last week. It was a lovely evening where we shared special memories for the student's primary school years and gave them advice for the future as they move into high school.
I wish all of the Year 6 students good luck and farewell as they begin their high school journey next year. I have no doubt they will all go on to do some amazing things and I can't wait to hear all about it!
Thank you for all the special memories!
