Playgroup!
We had our very first playgroup held at Yarranlea for our younger siblings and community members. It was so wonderful to have our community on site and playing together. The Puggles loved showing their little ones around the school.

Welcome back Puggle Families!
We hope you all enjoyed a nice break over the holidays!
It has been a super fun and busy first week back at school! On Friday the Yarranlea children spent the day at Jacob's Well Environmental Education Centre. They had a fantastic time exploring the mangroves, discovering what animals live in these habitats, and learning how these animals and plants survive.
Prep 2024 Meet and Greet
We would like to invite all of our Puggle Families to our Prep meet and greet on Saturday 28th October 2023 and Saturday 18 November 2023 at Oxley Common, Rocklea, from 9:30 am- 11:30 am. This is a wonderful chance for our Puggles to get to know the new Preppies coming in and help with the transition to 2024. If you are available to come and play with us for one or both of the days we would be very grateful to see you.

Welcome to Term 4!
How is it already Term 4?
And only 40 school days left??
CRAZY!!
Time flies when you are having fun!!
Just a few notes…
1) You would have received an email from myself with the attached Unit Overview for this term as well as Spelling Lists. The Unit Overview is for your knowledge of what your child will be learning over the next 10 weeks. The Spelling is just in case you wish to practice the spelling words with your child before the week commences. I would encourage this, however it is not mandatory. It has proven to aid in students' self confidence levels on a Monday morning. Your child will know what stage they are, the stages are the same as year levels, for example Stage 2 = Year 2.
2) Morning Tea Storybook Reads; We will be continuing our class storybook reads at Morning Tea time this term. Should you or a Grandparent like to come in and perform a storybook read, please reach out and email me with some dates that work for you and I will slot you in. Morning Tea is at 10:15-10:30 am, and parents have usually gotten through 2 storybooks with questions from the students in this time frame.
Please see below some of our recent Show and Share moments!
Toy Project:
For our Technologies Design unit this term, I am setting a home based project. This project will go for 10 weeks, aiming to finish Monday of Week 10, Term 4. The project combines students' knowledge of design technologies and their science units for the term. I am tasking the children to Design and Build a Toy using different materials for effect and purpose. The overall focus for this toy will be around the concept of PUSH AND PULL. It is encouraged that this is NOT an expensive activity, and students should aim to use and recycle items and objects they have at home already. I have spoken about this task with the children (so they should know what it is) but they are free to start whenever they would like to! Of course if you or they have any questions, please email me or they can talk to me in class about their ideas also. I will be conducting frequent in class discussions to check on their progress around this task. I am hoping for the students to bring in their toys in the last week of this term so they can share them with the class!
The students thoroughly enjoyed their Basketball lessons with Mr C last term. For our last lesson we had an actual game!

Jacob's Well Excursion:
On Friday the Yarranlea children spent the day at Jacob's Well Environmental Education Centre. They had a fantastic time exploring the mangroves, discovering what animals live in these habitats, and learning how these animals and plants survive. The Kookaburra group spent the day further learning of the Water Cycle and the Mangrove cycle, pneumatophores, nymphs and exoskeletons... they also met LUCKY the turtle who was a rescue by the environmental centre.
Dingoes NewsDesk
Welcome to Term 4!
It's going to be a big term, with the musical, scary dance, Book Week dress ups, prep meet and greets, our Year 6 dinner and following graduation - just to name a few!
Our Term Overview would have been sent out to all our parents outlining our content for this Term. As always, feel free to message if you have any questions.
Jacobs Well Excursion
Last Friday, the whole school ventured to Jacob's Well Environmental Education Centre. The Dingoes boarded the research vessel Educat for the day and participated in a beam trawl. Students helped to bring in our catch of the day which included a number of fish species and crabs. We then identified and recorded the species as well as the numbers caught and spoke about the environmental impact of trawling. We also all particpated in a game of 'Bird Bingo' where teams had to identify bird species using binoculars and then mark them off on a board. Students were no match for our teaching team however, with myself, Miss W and Maree taking out the first Bingo of the day! Good spotting team!
Jensen and Elliot Abroad!
I am always very envious of the wonderful trips our students get to experience with their families. Jensen and Elliot returned from Japan last week and shared a fantastic PowerPoint about their travels. They even were kind enough to bring in some Japanese sweets for the whole class to enjoy. We are happy to have you both back!
Music and More
Dear Parents: A reminder to bring your child's Frozen costume to school on Monday 23rd October in a clearly labelleled bag. We will have our dress rehearsal during that week!
